Acute Demand Radiology Service
This is a Government-funded service that provides urgent radiology exams in the community, where the alternative is likely admission to the public hospital.
Target groups include those with chronic disease and/or are socially disadvantaged.
The examinations covered are:
Plain xrays: Available 7 days per week, 9.00 am to 11.00pm
Ultrasound: Available weekdays and Saturday mornings
The exams are to be completed and the reports delivered to the referring practices within 6 hrs of referral
To refer:
Either the patient attends the 24 Hr Surgery, cnr Bealey Avenue and Colombo St, Christchurch. They have access to the Acute Demand Service.
Or the patient sees their usual health provider, who calls the Acute Demand Service Coodinator on 0800 111900. They will ask for a referral form to be faxed to them on 0800 111 994. The patient should present the original to the radiology clinic once the booking has been arranged.
